Hey.
So, here's a blog entry that was in my draft box for a couple of days already.
I'm such a weird person.
K scratch that.
It's more like impulsive, melodramatic, and yeah impatient.
Which isn't a good thing, at all.
I end up messing up, a lot.
Many a times, these negative traits caused loads of drama and heated arguements.
Too many of them actually.
Well, the good part is thankfully, i do spend hours in the night reflecting in self misery.
And, i guess i do put in some effort to ease out of these bad habits...
My new lit cher, Ms Ang, taught us something today.
She said, "Whatever happens to us, we have a choice to either react or to act."
It took me quite awhile to understand this theory but i did catch it, eventually.
When we react to a situation, our feelings are stirred up by the event or person, and it/her/she has complete control of our emotions. Thus we simply react accordingly to what the situation/person expects us to.
However, if we were to pause for a moment & consider our current emotions, we MAKE our own decisions and actually choose what response to give. Instead of just feeling moody and mad w/o knowing why, why not just pause and ponder on the cause of it?
Why are you so worked up? Is this worth being upset about?
Instead of feeling down, why not do yourself a favour and ignore or smile instead?
It might feel weird at the beginning, but you'll realise that "Hey, i am in control of me emotions. I'm actually not a ragdoll that has to obey other people's commands!"
In other words, you no longer have to say " I cant help it!".
I realised that we often use this sentence as an excuse for our unwillingness to think about the prob.
When the issue gets complicated and you dont know what to feel, you simply succumb to what others tell you to feel. And when asked why you are upset, you simply say
"I cant help it. I dont know why im so upset too..."
Uh huh.
So there! The next time you feel pissy, calm down (drink water, and beg for homeostasis to occur) and THINK before ACTING. (:
-yes i know really wise words from an Arian. -
This whole big fat weird theory might be a lil fustrating at first and yes it is mentally exhausting as you sort out yuor emotions but you'll feel a load better afterwards.
(brighter sky, greener grass.... you get what i mean.)
Oh and lastly, if you're really so so so fustrated, use your non dominant hand to do stuff.
(right hand left hand, geddit? ._.)
Studies say that this change of action causes you to use your left brain and your perspective of the issue will change.
Thus you'll feel significantly calmer (:
And this is how you awkwardly end a blog post without a conclusion.
It's a ramble.
