Out of my 18 years being an earthling, i've been asked so many questions about being veg that i can probably hold an hour's long Q&A session if i compiled everything together.
Plenty of which are the same ol' qns that i've deemed "Classic" at the back of my mind.
Sometimes i wish i can record a series of answers so that i can play them whenever someone asks the same questions again haha.
No worries, this isn't a hate post on you omnivores out there ^_^
In fact, it's pretty strange to me how people tend to be more amused by Vegetarians than non-vegs/carnivores.
I mean i'm pretty sure we get more questions asked than some bloke who loves to live on red meat and doesn't eat vegetables.
Hmmm.
So today i thought of letting you guys in to my head for a little bit, and y'know see things in my perspective for a bit aye?
"You don't know what you are missing out on."
This is The Classic comment. Which is usually made while i stare blankly at the human being in front of me devouring some chicken rice/ kfc/ something chicken-ish meal.
To which my response would usually be something like..........
The thing is, you guys have to understand that i am indeed clueless about what i'm missing out on,
cause i don't think i'm missing out on anything!
you get me?
(if you don't, lemme break this down in non-veg language: I'm not actually tempted by your plate of chicken rice. Just think angmoh and durian. Geddit? -generalization here- )
Especially when it's chicken.
i don't like birds.
i don't like it on my plate either.
*shudders*
But really, all jokes aside,
my usual response would be a grimace haha.
uhm yah, cause no thanks im good without that bird in my tummy.
I mean if it's something like gummy bears, i'll prob be like "Ugh why you add gelatine in here"
and the comment makes sense to me cause it's CANDY.
but if you're commenting on meat of some sort that i dislike?
Na-uh, comment invalid.
Speaking of Gelatine, i really wish that gummy bears producers will stop adding gelatine in candies T_T
i mean, if some Candy brands like Marks & Spencers and Jelly tots are able to do it, why can't you do it to gummy bears???
I mean, it's just leaving out a single ingredient and substituting it with some jelly powder right :(
& yes, to those of you who didn't know Gelatine is extracted from pigggy collagen so nope, not veg friendly.
Ohwell, staying true to my Percy Pigs but i do wish they will create some gummy bear that i can eat too.
"If you love animals, stop eating their food."
....
just an fyi: This, is the ultimate "im trying to piss you off" comment that one can ever make to a veg.
especially if you are just trying to be witty and a mean asshole.
and yes you've probably gotten hit in my head 30 times in the past 5 seconds.
Okay lemme refute this as logically and calmly as i can.
a) RUDE.
b) how bout you stop eating animals while you are retweeting some post about poor animals being abused.
c) inhumane if you do not feel sorry about the poor abused dogs and cats.
d) did noone taught you that Vegetarians eat Vegetables and not GRASS/ WEEDS.
Im a human being, and i need to eat.
Is it kinder to eat veggies and stay alive or eat both veggies and meat to stay alive?
I vote veggies and save my animal buddies.
C'MON, do we really even need this convo.
I mean look, i'm not commenting anything on animal lovers who eat meat and i respect your decision,
so don't be a jerk and question my choices too. D:<
not nice.

okay. that was for the mean people.

For those who genuinely think of that qn with no insult intended, peace (Y).
don't worry about it, our lovely animals do get enough food (cause we don't eat the same things...........)
and they will get enough food if we humans stop destroying nature/killing trees and all.
In 2009, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations released the report How to Feed the World in 2050. The Report stressed, “as the global population surges towards a predicted 9.1 billion people by 2050, western tastes for diets rich in meat and dairy products are unsustainable”.
If you didn't know already, the law of demand and supply tells us that if there is a demand for meat, there will be a supply of meat. This is done through commercial farming and rearing of animals.
There are many videos out there to show the horrible conditions that these animals are in, caged up and squashed together and forced fed etc.
To feed these large supplies of animals, naturally more land will be needed to plant feed for them.
And we all know how little land we have now, the situation is only going to worsen, and sooner or later you will not only have enough vegetables to eat, (i'll prob suffer from lack of veggies),
the animals will prob not survive as well, and you guys who can't live without meat will prob have to start eating more veggies too
(vegetables are easier to grow than animals to be reared)
and here you go: world wide famine.

no but seriously guys, the biodiversity is depleting really quickly.
you guys aren't gonna get any more shark fins soup sooner or later cause there isn't gonna be any sharks alive :O
Next comment:
"Can you eat fish?"
Fish isn't vegetarian, my friend (:
"Vegetarians are skinny lo."
Myth. The truth though is that vegetarians are more likely to eat cleaner.
You can be an unhealthy veg if you stuff yourself with baked potatoes and fries and desserts everyday y'know.
But it's undeniable that being a veg means you def consume a lot more vitamins and nutrients and naturally cut back on calories.
I'm giving thanks to the runs and pilates/workouts that i do though.
Just eat healthily lah.
"Why are eggs and dairy products vegetarian?"
It actually depends on individual's definition of vegetarianism.
i'm lacto-ovo vegetarian which means i do consume eggs and milk etc.
Technically eggs are okay for me cause they aren't animal flesh and no animal dies in the process.
Basically i eat food that do not require any animal dying/getting killed.
The eggs sold in supermarkets today are commercialized eggs.
"Unlike the birds' eggs that you see hatching into chicks, the eggs that you eat do not contain a developing embryo. In fact, these eggs almost never contain even the potential for life. As such, eggs are typically considered safe on most vegetarian diets."
http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/can-eat-eggs-vegetarian-9307.html
Fertilized eggs however, are a no-no for me.
and i guess a no-no for most people in Singapore.
again, how does one eat a baby bird?!?!?!
I think dairy products are pretty self explanatory.
now cow dies getting milked so i'm good.
Oh fish eggs (caviar) however aren't vegetarian as they are obtained by slicing the fish open and taking the eggs from it's belly.
Btw, did you know that Anne Hathaway is a veg?
Princess diarrrries~~~~
Heh.
okay gonna stop my eco-friendly blogpost here.
if any of you are even reading it that is o.o
hello.
im churning out another blogpost cause it has no relevance to this at all so... see you later.
