The shorts were originally a pair of highwaisted men's jeans.
Thrifted from a pile of clothes that my brother/dad was tossing out cause they couldn't fit in it.
The waist however fitted me perfectly and I hacked them up into highwaisted denim shorts.
It's incredibly difficult to find highwaisted shorts for me as I have an ass lol, so I can't wear most highwaisted shorts without having half my butt cheek being exposed to the world.
If you can't find one, make one!Seriously, you'll save a lot of money by doing so.
1. Find a pair of old jeans that fits you really well.
Wear them and do a few squats in them to see if they ride up/ feel uncomfortable.
And the fact that they can button up doesn't mean that it is your size.
you gotta breathe and live in them yo.
Go for straight cuts/ boot cut styles, those work better than skinnies for this.
2. Cut them to whatever style fits you best!
I recommend going to the stores and trying those unaffordable perfect shorts to see what suits your booty best.
But as a guideline: Have the back longer than the front side of the shorts.
If the outer sides are shorter, it gives the illusion of longer legs.
To do so, cut in a slight diagonal angle up the sides of the jeans.
CAUTION: Do cut slowly and it's better to have them too long and trim them shorter later than accidentally chopping them waaaaaaaaay too short and ruin everything.
3. Remember to cut one inch below your desired length. Denim will fray in the washer so you want to leave excess fabric for it to do so.
4. Scratch at the edges with a tweezer or kitchen tongs around the entire circumference of the shorts, just a little to loosen the threads.
5. Toss them into the washing machine!
6. Trim off the stringy messy bits after they're dry and Volia!
Perfect shorts.
